“Leaving already?”
Frank looked at the wall clock, even though he knew the time. “Yep, almost five o’clock. Quittin’ time.”
I rested my head in my hands, massaging my aching brain. “I have at least another six hours if I’m going to finish this report.”
“When is it due?” Frank asked as he inched closer to the door.
“Tomorrow. He’s presenting it before lunch.”
Frank stopped and gave me a look of compassion. “That sucks. I saw him headed home an hour ago.”
“Yeah. I’ve worked fourteen hour days for the last nine days.” I looked up and caught his eye. “What’s your secret? You always get your assigned work finished and leave on time every night.”
“If you screw something up bad enough, they never ask you to do it again.”
He turned on his heels and walked out the door - at exactly five P.M.
